Chubby Wubbles My Pet Ferret, by M. J. Abrams, is a wonderful twenty-seven-page children’s book about two pet ferrets, Chubby and Coco. They were the best of friends and always played together. One day, Chubby wakes up to find Coco is gone. Where did Coco go? Chubby gets loose and sets out to find his mate. Will he find her? Will he be safe on his own? Jeffrey his owner searches everywhere for Chubby. Will Jeffrey find his beloved pet? This is a cute story with a little mystery and some unexpected danger.

This book has vibrant colorful illustrations. It also has numerous photographs of ferrets. These pictures add so much to the story and made me fall in love with these adorable creatures. Children will delight in the story and the pictures. They will want a pet ferret of their own.

My favorite part of the story was the love shown between Jeffrey and Chubby. Jeff is always using endearments, such as “my little chub chub” and “little munchkin.” He takes good care of his pet. He spends a lot of time with Chubby, keeps his pen clean, and feeds him lots of treats. He carries his ferret around like a baby or wraps Chubby across his shoulders.

Children can learn by this example on how to take care of their pets. The story teaches children to treat their pets with love and kindness. It shows the love between animals and their different personalities. It teaches that pets need attention, to be played with, and kept safe. The wording is not difficult and would be suitable for beginning or intermediate readers. Younger children would be excited to have this book read to them. Adults will enjoy this charming story as well.

This book has been dedicated to the ferret shelters that work hard to reunite adventuresome ferrets with their owners and find good homes for strays. I had never heard of ferret shelters but discovered they can be found throughout the United States and even worldwide.

I highly recommend this story. It is suitable for children of all ages. It has no vulgarity or sexual situations. The danger is not too frightening and should not scare young children. I found only a few grammatical errors concerning commas, but they in no way detracted from my enjoyment of the book. The story is lively and fun. I am awarding Chubby Wubbles My Pet Ferret, by M. J. Abrams, 4 out of 4 stars. Please check it out. I think you and your children will enjoy it.
