What’s Your Favourite Color is a book that children will love to read as it perfectly captures the innocence and wonder all children posses during their early years in school. The author has tactfully written an adorable story that will captivate young minds, while simultaneously educating them.

Amber L Lassiter has crafted an engaging story about a young girl’s interesting incident in school. The plot is quite simple (as young children will not be able to comprehend complex plots) but provides the reader with many new words and concepts they can learn through the story. The story deals with a class of children who are to paint a picture using their favourite colour, while they all constantly pull each other's legs and try to guess the other’s favourite colour.

Though the story is simple, it teaches children about emotional responses and how to identify them based on actions. Emotions such as anger, happiness, curiosity, irritation, reassurance, and disappointment are mentioned in the story. The actions described in the book help children decipher their corresponding emotions and help them relate to what is going on. There are also pictures to help the children visualize the actions.

What I love best about the book is how much knowledge it contains in a few pages. Monochrome paintings, rhyming words, and riddles are new concepts young children will be introduced to in the story. The best part is that there are questions in each page that keep the reader constantly engaged. There is also a space given for children to write down their thoughts and feelings. Apart from new words and ideas, they will also learn the names of colours and how mixing them produce new colours.

This book will be best enjoyed by children who are just starting to read and write. As a bonus, it also helps to get them interested in art and painting. I would rate the book 4 out of 4 stars as I loved every aspect of the book and could not find any flaw in it.
