Review by glossy cherry -- Serendipity Mystery: Diary of...
Serendipity Mystery, written by R.F. Kristi, is the seventh part in the Diary of a Snoopy Cat children’s series. It is the story of a detective, Siberian kitty named Inca, who operates in London. Inca’s detective posse consists of her siblings, two dogs, and a cute hamster. Inca is on vacation in Sri Lanka, with her human mommy. But it seems like Inca can’t get a break. The kitty’s respite is short-lived when a historical artifact’s robbery calls for the intervention of Inca and her team. From here on starts the game of cat and mouse. Clever foxes in the disguise of innocent little lambs. Every nook has a hidden message. And Inca & her posse are short on time.
Are the police really on their side?
Will they find the real thief?
Is everything indeed the way it seems like it is?
Read the book to find the answers.
Kristi has written a well-balanced book with equal amounts of fun characters and suspense of the robbery. Inca goes on an adventurous journey in Sri Lanka, where she meets new friends and sees the exquisite beauty of the country. Kristi has described the country and its customs vividly in colorful detail. Her writing style is engaging for children. The inclusion of different animals with distinctive personalities is educative to the target readers.
The book has a lot of artistic illustrations in between the story, which is an excellent method of enhancing the visual learning of kids. Seeing a picture of a mommy-daughter elephant amplifies a child’s interest and knowledge of the story. Kristi has done an exceptional job of writing a children’s book. Her efforts in understanding a young child’s interests are visible.
Serendipity Mystery is unlike any other children’s book. Children’s books don’t usually veer towards mystery or suspense. Kristi is admirable for writing a unique children’s book. Her efforts and exploration in this unknown territory have paid off. I will recommend this book to all the parents who have kids aged from five to ten. They will undoubtedly love it.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I liked that this is not just a storybook; it is so much educational. If I were its target reader, I would read and reread this book. It will become one of my favorites. It has all the elements of a perfect children’s book.
Serendipity Mystery is a well-edited book, and I did not dislike anything in it. If you get a chance, do give it a read and pass it onto a kid, they will love it.
