Review by daphne_asir -- The Blue Sea Monster
The Blue Sea Monster by Norma Fleagane, James Fleagane and Blake James Ward is a children's book with a creative story and beautiful illustrations.
Blake lives off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida. His neighbourhood is terrorised by a sea monster that would come out early in the morning or after it got dark. This dark blue, ugly monster would kidnap little children and take them to a deserted island in the Bahamas where no one could find them. This went on until Blake's grandfather decides enough is enough. Blake and his grandfather come up with a plan to stop the monster from kidnapping the kids. They decide to scare away any monsters that might be in the neighbourhood. The story follows Blake as he goes on an adventure with his grandfather to stop the kidnappings and find the lost children.
The book is fast-paced and packed with action. The narration is extremely descriptive. Illustrations are provided right next to the text to help in visualisation. The book is colourful, and it is sure to please the young readers.
I liked how brave the characters were. The book contains characters who are selfless and courageous. This is sure to inspire readers.
The only thing I disliked about the book was that the book talks about kidnappings. This might be a little scary and inappropriate for young children, but the ending is quite satisfactory.
I rate The Blue Sea Monster four out of four stars for the gripping adventure and the beautiful illustrations. The book seems to be exceptionally well-edited, and it obviously has no profanity or erotic content. I recommend this book to children between the ages of 3 and 6. The book is suitable for children who are just learning to read. This will capture their attention and keep them intrigued.
