Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is the 7th book in The Inca Book series. Inca is a Siberian kitty and is the proud head of a detective agency. During their holiday in Sri Lanka, Inca and her team discover that a valuable, antique sword has been stolen from a museum in Colombo. Now working together, they must solve the mystery and find the thief. Along the way, they make friends with a baby elephant and a turtle. They even meet a scary python!

I really enjoyed reading this book. Even though it’s the 7th book in the series, it’s the third book I’ve read from this author. This book is as amazing as the other ones I’ve read. The cover of this book is adorable, and it captures your attention. Throughout the book, there are beautiful illustrations created by Jorge Valle, which help tell the story. I think the size of the illustrations is perfect; they are nice and big, perfect for little children to flick through.

The story is told from Inca’s point of view, in the format of her diary. I think this is a great idea because it allows us to understand her thoughts and feelings. This, in turn, helps us connect to her character more. The author wrote the book using short, simple sentences. This is important because it means that children won’t find it difficult to read.

I love all the characters in the book. The author has made them all unique and likeable. My favourite character in this story would have to be Inca. The author portrays her as a confident, fearless cat, who is ready to take on any challenge. Her character is very inspiring, and I’m sure a lot of children will look up to her.

Not only is this a great book to read, but it also teaches a lot of important messages. For example, it teaches readers that they should never give up when they are faced with a problem. This is shown in the book when Inca never gave up hope when she found herself lost in the jungle.

The only issue I found with the book is that on page 35, Terrance, a detective doggy, is talking to Inca; however, the illustration underneath the text shows Terrance with Cara. This made me confused. I think the author needs to make sure that the illustrations portray what is being said in the text.

Overall, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it was an enjoyable read. The book is professionally edited as I only found one mistake. At only 95 pages, this is a quick read. Even though the book is in a series, it can be read as a standalone. I definitely recommend this book to children the ages of 7-11.
