Progressive Maths Unit 1: Counting by Julie MacLure is a book full of worksheets for children. The main purpose of the book is to teach children to count up to 10. The book contains a series of different activities which are categorized into ‘Counting’, ‘Matching’, ‘Join the dots’ and ‘Problem Solving’.

I really like the cover of this book; it’s simple and eye-catching. This is important as children won’t find the book intimidating based on the cover. This is the second book I am reviewing from this author, and I can safely say that this book is no different from the other one; it’s equally great. I liked the simple images of objects used in the worksheets, e.g. of ice-creams and cars. This is important because it means children will be able to easily identify the objects.

Furthermore, throughout the book, the instructions the author gives are short and easy to follow along to. In addition to that, I also like the layout of the pages; it’s not overwhelming or distracting, and the questions are spaced out nicely. In terms of the worksheets; I think the author did an awesome job. The problems are appropriate for children to solve. I like that the author slowly progresses the problems from easy to hard.

There is nothing I didn’t like about the book. The author executed the book perfectly. At only 15 pages, this book is very short and can be completed very quickly.

Overall, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I think it’s an amazing book that will help a child to count to 10. It is professionally edited as I found no mistakes. This is great for teachers to use in their classrooms. Also, children can do these worksheets at home with the help of their parents. I think there’s a worksheet for every child to enjoy.

I think this book should replace the books that are provided in the schools. Neat and clean review. Good job.

This sounds like a great tool to help children visualize numbers! I love the idea of using different matching or connect the dot games in order to help with counting. Thank you for your review!
