I am so excited to share with everyone how much I loved Picasso Loves Shapes by Judiee Lee. This book helps introduce shapes, art, and artists to children through bright, interactive storytelling. The book starts with a shape museum, where kids can see different shapes together. Next, the author shows readers individual shapes with help from Picasso. During the story, Picasso becomes so inspired that he uses the shapes to create a picture and wants his friends to join in the fun. Following this story, there is an "About Picasso" section to introduce the famous artist in an engaging, kid-friendly way. Last, but not least, Picasso and the author encourage readers to make art with them. Of course, I can't give you all the details, so you'll have to pick up this book to learn more.

I truly enjoyed this book and am excited to share it with the young readers in my life. Art helps develop creativity in young children and this book definitely facilitates that. The illustrations are bright. The characters are engaging. There are even activities for readers. What more can you want?

While I liked the whole book, I found some specific aspects to be truly endearing. At the beginning of the book, the author dedicates the story to her art teachers. Here, she drew her teachers. It was fun and different from other children's books I have seen. I also quite enjoyed that the author had Picasso talk in Spanish at times. The sentences are simple and easy to understand as he repeats them in English. I feel like this can facilitate language-learning skills in children but it also supported the authenticity of the character as Picasso was a Spanish artist.

I could not find one thing I disliked about this book. There was one grammatical error where a comma was missing, but this did not detract from the story at all. There were no other errors and I did not find the book lacking in any way.

Overall, I have to give this book 4 out of 4 stars. As I said above, there was nothing more I could really want from a children's story. It is perfect for reading at home and getting kids involved in art. I would also highly recommend this book to teachers as it would be great to have in the classroom to facilitate learning.

One thing I really loved about this book, was the fact that it encouraged the readers to participate even as they enjoyed the book. Children will definitely have fun whilst reading this book, and there is nothing more exciting than that. Nice review.

This book definitely can make children interested in art, specifically with Picasso's arts. I like how creative the author got in this children's book.
