While parents say every day is special, there are always some days that are a little brighter and more special than others. For instance, birthdays. For Princess Tacoma, this birthday is particularly special as she invited princesses from all over to her party! It is sure to be grand, filled with dancing, laughter, and pretty gowns. However, Princess Tacoma begins to worry about her dress and the gap in her front teeth. Certainly, the other's will outshine her on her special day. Despite her mother's reassurances, she cannot rid herself of the worry. Will she be able to overcome this? What will the other princesses think?

Princess Tacoma's Birthday Party by London Menilek is a fun, princess story sure to catch the eyes of young girls. Of course, any young children, regardless of gender, may find this book interesting given the illustrations and messages portrayed throughout. Personally, I would recommend this to parents with elementary or preschool-aged children.

I was particularly fond of the illustrations in this book and I am sure children will also enjoy it. The pages were bright and detailed. I even enjoyed the dresses Princess Tacoma thought were simple.

Another thing I liked was the messages portrayed throughout the book. The author touched on a lot of important topics. For instance, the author addressed ethnic and racial inclusion, acceptance, inner beauty, and self-love. All of these are important for children to learn at a young age.

Despite finding much to like about the book, I found numerous grammatical and formatting errors. For a children's book with a small number of pages, I expect there to minimal or none. In addition, the author filled some of the pages with narrative and dialogue, while others were minuscule. I didn't enjoy this lack of consistency.

Overall, I have to give this book 2 out of 4 stars. I took into consideration the above aspects. A big factor was the number of grammatical errors. With some additional work, I think this book could be fantastic.

Accepting one's flaws in physical appearance is something that not just children, but most adults face in their lives. This seems to be a nice book to read out to children. Thank you for your honest review!

Something that not only teenagers, but most adults experience in their life is the differences in one's physical appearance. If kids are taught to love themselves at a tender age, it will go a long way towards boosting their confidence as they grow. Good review and its a shame that such a book with powerful message had much grammatical errors.

As a child growing to a teen or adult, what matters most is your for yourself and accepting the kind of person you really are. You don't need the acceptance of others to be happy, i think that's the important message the author is trying to pass across to readers . I would love to know what happened at the party.

Learning to love ourselves is important even though we are not perfect. Sounds like a great read for kids.
