Review by Nickolas Farmakis -- Love, Grandma by Ann Morris
Love, Grandma by Ann Morris is a children’s book dedicated by the author to her grandchildren. The writer mentions some fun moments she has enjoyed with her two granddaughters, thereby creating a positive, joyous, and exciting atmosphere in the text.
Morris begins this book by describing Payton, her eldest granddaughter. She recalls playing with toys with Payton, as well as singing and reading with her. Next, little Haley joined her sister, and the writer talks about spinning young Haley around like an airplane. The girls gradually grew up, and their grandma always gave them hugs. They also baked delicious cookies together, and they brushed their grandma’s hair. Morris also remembers her collection of buttons that the young girls enjoyed playing with, as they had fun making arts and crafts. Additionally, they liked playing the restaurant game by serving tea on toy cups and using a calculator to figure out bills.
This book had a majority of positive features. Firstly, it was faultlessly edited because I did not find any grammatical or spelling mistakes in the book. Furthermore, I liked the writer’s originality and authenticity, as she described her experiences with her grandchildren in a unique manner. I also liked the fact that the author utilized rhyme in many passages, which engages young readers in the story. What I liked most about this story was that the text was full of realistic, creative pictures, thus enriching the content of this book. There was nothing I disliked in this book.
This book will be most appreciated by young readers who may enhance their language skills through this story. Grandparents may also like this book because they will relate to the author’s experiences and laugh at her funny stories. Readers of all religions, including non-religion, are eligible to read this book.
Conclusively, I rate this book with 4 out of 4 stars. I could not give it any lower because it was impeccably edited, and it contained originality, rhyme, as well as vivid illustrations.
