Review by Sarah001 -- Cat Detectives in the Korean Penin...
Pets can be amusing, daring, adventurous, and protective of their owners. Ever wondered what it would be like to have a fun, smart, and loving cat as a pet? Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R. F. Kristi is a well-developed story built around a group of adventurous pets and their owner.
Inca, the Queen of Kitties, is a Siberian cat who prides herself to be a 'super-duper' detective. Members of her detective agency include Fromage, Cara, Monk, Polo, Terrance, and others. They would be accompanying their owner to South Korea, where a cooking competition is to be held. However, when Enzo tried to get away with their owner's cheese at the airport, we see the super detectives at work. Soon, the group arrived at their destination, and a whole new chapter filled with fun, intrigue, and adventure unravels.
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is both entertaining and interesting. The narrator, Inca, is humorous and smart. She described her brother, Fromage, as 'the cheese worshipping bundle of trouble.' There were no dull moments in the book.
Kristi has left no loose ends in this book. The characters were consistent and properly developed. Bo-Mi was the affectionate friend of Baram, and the illustration of their warm hug on page 95 said it all. Also, the development of the story was believable and realistic. The adventures in the story were my most favorite part of the book. I found the detailed description of their visit to DMZ very much interesting.
The illustrations by Jorge Valle were bright, colorful, and expressive. I particularly love the illustration of Fromage on page 29, which depicted his expression after realizing that his adored cheese has been stolen. It was quite amusing.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was excellently written. I found nothing to dislike about it. It was exceptionally well edited. Children between the ages of 4 and 8 years would find it delightful.
