Official Review: Ellie, the ADHD SuperGirl, Conquers the ...
Ellie, the ADHD SuperGirl, Conquers the First Grade is narrated by Fae, Ellie’s assistant. It tells the story of Ellie, a first-grader with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Ellie is a hyperactive child who can’t sit still. She has difficulty paying attention, which makes school difficult for her. Fae helps Ellie throughout the book with helpful suggestions to manage her symptoms.
Yael Manor wrote this book based on her experience as a math teacher who worked with ADHD kids. The practical strategies offered in the book help ADHD kids to take care of themselves at school and home. The book not only assists ADHD children in their everyday lives but also provides guidance for teachers and parents about how they can help children with ADHD.
Every page is full of tips and suggestions. Anyone reading this could get a basic understanding of ADHD. The advice is optimistic, direct, and simple for children with any traits of ADHD. Some of the advice is also useful for parents and teachers. With fun activities that engage their minds, the book offers children with ADHD a better understanding of themselves.
The story comes to life thanks to the bright and colorful images. They clearly articulate the message and are sure to keep the attention of the kids. The font size is ideal. It's not excessively long or short. However, there is no rhythm or rhyme to the text. The sentences are also quite long, which can make it difficult for the kids to concentrate.
Parents of ADHD children could read this book to them at bedtime. I didn’t encounter any grammatical errors in the text. While I have a problem with the length of the sentences, I believe the issue will be solved if the parent helped the child read the book. Therefore, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend Ellie, the ADHD SuperGirl, Conquers the First Grade to parents looking for a captivating book to read to their ADHD children, as well as teachers wanting to learn more about how to support children with ADHD.
