Beyond the Door, written by Haley Quinn, is a creative masterpiece. This story explores a theme that many children can identify with: being afraid of the mysterious monster hiding in the closet. Told in first-person, this narrative poem details how the protagonist, a young girl, braves her biggest fear to courageously save her best friend, Teddy, from the monster in the closet. After finally finding the monster, Boogie, he calls her a monster and is willing to sacrifice himself to save Teddy. The young lady must re-evaluate her previous assumptions about Boogie. What will happen next?

I love the rhyme and rhythm of this story. I believe children will enjoy its soothing tempo as well. This book is a quick read that is sure to become a favorite of little ones. They will be able to relate to being afraid of the dark. The protagonist is a great role model. She demonstrates courage when she faces her biggest fear so that she can save Teddy. She is also kind and considerate.

My favorite part of this story is how the author challenges the reader’s notion of a monster. In the beginning, she believes Boogie is a monster. When Boogie calls her the monster, she must rethink her assumption. This challenge elevates this story to a whole new level of awesomeness. Parents can use this tale to talk to their children about the danger of prejudging people.

This story is illustrated by the author. The pictures appear as though a child drew them. On the one hand, this can make the book relatable to children and inspire them to illustrate tales of their own. On the other hand, this quirk leaves the reading experience feeling less than professional. I think this was my least favorite part of the book, and this is a minor drawback.

I give this book four out of four stars. I found absolutely no editorial mistakes. The story is appealing and engaging, and it teaches a valuable lesson. I recommend it for audiences of ages three to seven. Parents, guardians, grandparents, and teachers will enjoy sharing this piece of literature with the young people in their lives.

Am really eager to learn about the monster and how a young child manages to overcome the fear that many may struggle with until they grow up. It is such an inspiration to children with such a fear.

This sounds very interesting for children, for it to be a story about the monsters in the dark but also a narrative poem. Thanks for the great review
