Freddy is a little boy who, just like any other, loves eating sweet treats. His cool friends, Candy Pie, Banana Loaf, and Strawberry Ice Cream, give him the energy to laugh and jump around. He wrinkles his nose at the sight of vegetables because he finds they have a weird taste and look bad.

One day, a bug attacks him, and Freddy feels very ill. His friends aren't of any help. He has to stay in bed due to the lack of nutrients from his diet. The poor child can't go to school or play outside. His grandmother decides to make healthy meals with veggies for him. The boy's new vegetable friends, Carrot, Broccoli, and Green Pea, battle the nasty bug. Step by step, Freddy starts feeling better, and the bug goes away.

Freddy and the Veggies by Ngozi Edema is a book that helps young kids understand the importance of having vegetables in their diet. They often tends to like sugary snacks, which can be bad for their health. Here, Freddy learns that treats may make you happy for a short while, but vegetables and healthy food are the most important and will help you for a long time.

One thing I liked about this book is that I only found one capitalization mistake. It also had lovely illustrations on every page, which is great because it helps children focus on the story better. The narrative was clear and well-paced. There was not a single bit of confusion whatsoever.

I rate Freddy and the Veggies by Ngozi Edema 4 out of 4 stars. I have not found anything bad to say about this book. It was professionally edited and well-written. I would recommend it to children from the ages of two to eight. I'm sure it will change their views on veggies.

It's funny that most children do need encouragement to eat their vegetables. I am sure that children will enjoy this cute book. I love the positive message. Thank you for an informative review.

Vegetables certainly don’t taste like delicious sweet treats, but at least a leafy and well-balanced diet will keep kids energetic and active (and not stuck in bed all the time)! What an interesting little story. 🥦
