Inca and her family are in Sri Lanka. They are camped on a beach cottage in a sunny seaside village called Galle. Mom plans to take the family on a train ride up to the tea plantations then explore the timeless ruins. Meanwhile, Inca hears that a valuable, old antique sword has been stolen from the main museum in Colombo. The director of the museum has invited Solo to investigate the missing sword. Solo is their humanoid neighbor in Kensington. He is a well-known international detective.

Inca wants to help Solo and his dog, Terrance, with the case. She heads a detective agency called Inca & Family, and this case is perfect for her. With the help of her new Sri-Lankan friends, will she play an important role in recovering the stolen sword? Find out in this children’s book called Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi.

After finishing this book, I found nothing to dislike about it. A rating of 4 out of 4 stars is just about right for this edition, and I will explain the reasons for my conclusion. First, I like the idea of this book, which is to show how important animals are to us as humans. It was pleasing to see that the author included a variety of animals in telling this story. There were cats, elephants, turtles, dogs, etc. I like that the animals came together to work towards the same goal. I think this will teach children about the importance of working as a team regardless of how different they are from the individuals in their team.

Another thing I liked about the book was how colorful the illustrations were. It was nice to see how each animal looked, which would make the children even more attached to the book. I figure that a good way to make kids attracted to something is by making it colorful, and that is what Kristi did with this publication. Also, I liked the way the characters in the book went about the mystery that was before them. Everything they did to uncover the culprit(s) seemed consistent with the overall plot. I didn’t, at any time, feel that the author was trying to force unrealistic events into the story.

Moreover, this book is exceptionally edited. I didn’t notice any errors throughout the text. I would be surprised if I did, though. I believe children's books should be void of errors, and I’m glad this book satisfies that requirement. I believe this book will be educative for children, especially about Sri Lanka. I learned that Sri Lanka has some great relaxation spots and a museum. That may just be my next vacation spot. I recommend this book to children between the ages of 7 and 12. However, adults and young adults that are interested in mystery books about animals would also enjoy this book. Happy reading!
