Review of Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat
Being snoopy is not perfect and could be infringing, but it could also be a saving grace at times. So was the case with Inca. Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is a fictional book written by R.F. Kristi that talks about the experiences of Inca and his family and detective friends.
The book was not divided into the traditional style of chapters. Instead, it reflected a typical diary. Inca, along with his siblings, Fromage, Cara, and Charlotte, followed their human mother to an island called Sri Lanka for a holiday. They were followed later by Terrance and his human master, Solo, due to an unexpected incident. Meanwhile, someone had stolen an old antique and a sizable amount of gold coins at the Colombo Museum. Immediately Inca heard the news; his inquisitive, snoopy, and detective nature went into work immediately. Inca and his other teammates, along with his new friends, Meena and Rani, set to work together to unravel the mystery behind the stolen items. Read up on this book to find out more about the happenings during their trip.
Being the seventh in the series, the author gave us yet, another tale of Inca. Although it was not a poem, the author used some poetic devices that worked perfectly in the book. The use of boozing, woof, and other onomatopoeic words and alliteration increased the book's beauty. The book also contained very bright and colorful pictures that were intriguing. The cover page alone was very catchy and served as a perfect invitation to the storyline. Although this book was written as a children's book, its diction did not wholly reflect so. It was simple but not for a child of five years. The plot was superb and epic.
The book was also educative and informative. It talked about cats having nine lives. Also, it further mentioned the Anuradhapura, the ancient city and capital of Sri Lanka. It additionally talked about its heritage and values. The book's content also educated on friendship, family bonds, and love. As a children's book, readers learn the benefits of teamwork and the consequences of deviant behaviors. The book was quite hilarious. It was funny when Cara warned Fromage about overeating and how it would dent his figure and make him fall out of shape.
I am giving this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars for its excellence and perfection. There was nothing to dislike about this book. It was impactful and entertaining. Also, this is a well-edited book, as I found only one grammatical error.
I recommend this book majorly to young children between the ages of 7 to 14 years. It was an enjoyable read, and the author performed exceedingly well.
