Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is a children’s book by R.F. Kristi. The book is the seventh in the Inca Cat Series. Inca is the leader of an animal detective agency. She is a clever, mystery-solving Siberian kitty. In the series, Inca and her detective friends solve mysteries in different countries. Inca records the adventures in her diary. Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat takes place in Sri Lanka.

Inca is excited to explore Sri Lanka. But before she can dig her paws into the excitement, she finds out that a Sri Lankan museum is missing an artifact, an ancient sword. Inca dives into the mystery and applies her crime-solving skills. The clues Inca uncovers lead her into the jungle. Inca encounters different animals and learns about Sri Lanka’s captivating history. It takes Inca’s crime-solving skills, her furry friend detectives, and her new animal friends to track the stolen sword.

There is a lot to love about Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat. The book is part of a series but is a good standalone read. A reader can enjoy the book without having to read the previous installments. The plot also includes a lot of information about Sri Lanka’s history and culture. The details about Sri Lanka ground and enrich the story.

Another positive aspect is the author’s choice of vocabulary. The book uses a mixture of familiar and new words. Young readers will relate to the familiar words and expand their vocabulary. For example, UNESCO World Heritage Sites is likely a new concept to many young readers. The book is an excellent introduction to world heritage sites.

Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is an entertaining children’s book. It’s a good source of information on Sri Lankan history and culture for young readers. The story is engaging, educative, and professionally edited. I did not spot any errors. I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend the book to children between seven and twelve years. Young readers within this age range are more likely to appreciate the author’s depth of information and vocabulary. I would advise guardians and educators to take part in their children’s reading sessions to help them understand the new words and concepts in the book.
