We're not so Different by Fabian Grant is a book about what could happen if the other planets in the solar system decide that they have had enough of Earth's probes. The Martians have had enough of Earth’s invasion of their privacy. Therefore, the adults of Mars gather for a meeting. Almost everyone feels the only way to put an end to these annoying probes is to declare war on Earth. Fortunately, not everyone feels this is the right and only thing to do.

Out of this meeting emerges an expedition that could make or break Earth. No one wants to risk traveling to Earth, but Lois believes there is still hope for Earth. Do Earthlings remember how to be hospitable, or will they prove the majority of the Martians correct? Could aliens dwell in our midst without us knowing? You will have to read this book to unlock the answers to these pressing questions.

I enjoyed the conversational style of writing. It really drew me in and made me feel like I was part of the story. I also found this book to be really informative. I learned about the solar system, particularly about Mars. I also learned a bit about basketball, baseball, pumas, and America’s history. I feel reading this book to children will be a fun way for them to learn a bit about America’s history.

I found the cover of this book to be somewhat creepy, and I feel like it is a depiction of what most people think aliens look like, even though the aliens in this book didn’t look that way. I like that sketches were included in this book, and these sketches helped to stimulate my imagination. There were also a lot of funny moments, and I enjoyed the sarcasm and wit of the characters.

I enjoyed reading about the Martians. They are a very amusing set of people, different in some ways yet similar in other ways. Their system of democracy, unity, and organization made their planet look appealing and ideal. The book started very nicely and the expedition of mother, Lois, had me glued to the book. I also enjoyed the clear descriptions. For example, the fear expressed by Walter at page twenty-six, “This beastly power overload rooted me to the chair, placing my organs on the opposite side of my body."

I do not dislike anything about this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Unfortunately, I noticed more than ten errors while reading this book. Therefore, I have to give We're not so Different a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I believe that having an editor take another look at this book would really help in eliminating these errors and omissions.

I believe children, teenagers, young adults, and even older adults will enjoy reading this book. Curious people and readers who often wonder about space travel and whether life exists outside Earth will also enjoy reading this book.
