'12 Wintery tales, told with humour, mischief and wit. Whether you are young or old, once you've stepped into the quirky world of Mister Pushkin, you'll never want to leave.'

I quote these words from the book as they perfectly express my feelings about this wonderful and hilarious book. Mister Pushkin Turns Over A New Leaf: 12 Autumnal Tales (Tales of Mister Pushkin Book 2), written by AC Micheal, is a perfect book to gift this Christmas. It is a collection of twelve different stories that regale Mister Pushkin's adventures.

Mister Pushkin is a Ukrainian blue cat who lives with his owner, Klem. He has purplish-blue fur, a stocky build, and brilliant yellow eyes. He's as astute as he is feisty. He also has an uncanny ability to read people and situations and act accordingly. The twelve stories depict his day-to-day exploits. Often, the shrewd feline would find himself embroiled in one or more misadventures. He would deal with them smartly and eventually hiss or purr his way out of them. For instance, it was amusing to read how craftily he got himself free of his leash to chase the annoying mallards who dared to mock him. The sturdy cat enjoys eating Scottish salmon, sleeping on the windowsill, and watching people. If I may say so, Mister Pushkin is an oddity. He would sometimes play the perfect pet, helping Klem and Emma (Klem's friend) on various occasions. Similarly, he wouldn't think twice about saving a half-tailed tabby cat and a mouse from their impending deaths. On the other hand, he was also good at getting rid of his adversaries. He would also be particularly nasty to certain characters in the book with whom he disagreed.

I am simply awestruck by this author. He has managed to spin tales that are hilarious, engaging, and entertaining. He has created outstanding imagery with his words. Furthermore, the way he has combined sarcasm and humor exemplifies his exceptional penmanship.

I finished the book in one sitting and I didn't want it to end. Klem and Mister Pushkin's chemistry was adorable. Klem struck me as a good-natured, absent-minded guy who genuinely loved and cared for his feline companion. Emma, a kind-hearted woman, never failed to put a smile on my face with her generosity, wit, and kindness. Although I enjoyed all twelve narratives in the book, if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Tale No. 15, 'Mister Pushkin Shows off.' I couldn't stop laughing as the feisty cat engaged in a battle of wills with Ms. Potamus, a snooty old lady judging a cat show.

There are no grammatical errors in this book, implying that it has been professionally edited. Ms. Potamus may have disqualified him, but I would love to reward Mister Pushkin with his favorite smoked salmon and dollops of beluga caviar, as well as 4 out of 4 stars.

Although the book is classified as a children's book, I believe that anyone, regardless of age or gender, would enjoy reading it. The language and vocabulary are a little complicated and difficult for younger children to grasp. However, older children between the ages of 10 and 15 would have no such difficulty. Still, they may need to consult dictionary to determine the meaning of certain words, such as, trundling, incarceration, and cacophony. Nothing, however, can change the fact that the book is a work of art. I'm eager to read the rest of the series and learn more about Mister Pushkin and his exploits.
