This is not my first time reading about Mister Pushkin, the golden-eyed mischievous cat. I have to say, the chubby Russian Blue is growing on me. Mister Pushkin Turns Over A New Leaf by AC Michael is the second book in the series. It has 12 tales full of mischief, smartness, and fun. In this volume, Mister Pushkin chases a squirrel out of the house, stands up for the miscreant mallards, sets a trap for a rat, and, of course, enters the Autumn Cat Show. Also, it can't be a Mister Pushkin book without saving a life. This time the cat courageously rescued a plump little mouse from a snare and decided not to eat it. You got to give it to the cat with the purplish-blue fur. That wasn't easy to do.

I really liked the titles of the tales and the little silhouette illustrations that accompanied them. It makes you think of what the tale might be about. My favorite aspect about this series, which was evident in this volume, was the diversity of the mini topics of daily life the author tackled. They were fun and relatable. I think the book is perfect for the age it is targeted for, but also suitable for all the other ages. In other words, the whole family can sit together and enjoy reading it. The part with Mister Pushkin's witty comments on some famous quotes about cats was clever. It was the perfect way to end the book.

There's nothing that I disliked about this book. It lived up to the expectations. It was just as successful as its predecessor. I believe this is a critical quality when dealing with a book series. AC Michael's writing style is friendly, conversational, and engaging. It works well with the light-hearted and perky nature of the book.

I give Mister Pushkin Turns Over A New Leaf 4 out of 4 stars. I didn't find any errors in the text. It seems to be professionally edited. The interior design is simple and inviting. The book's structure and the length of each tale gave the book high readability.

I recommend it to boys and girls from ages 5 to 13. However, as I said before, it is an excellent read for all the family to enjoy. It's rare to find a book with this attribute, that's why I think this series is successful. This read is a perfect fit if you're into cats in specific. With each volume, you'll learn more about new cat breeds and their behavioral patterns in general. So, cat lovers, enjoy!
