Review of Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids
Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul is about a young girl named Emma and her family. Every night before bedtime, Emma’s mother and father read to her and her two sisters from the Bible and teach the girls that God loves them, and He wants the girls to love Him back.
One night after being tucked into bed, Emma fell asleep and dreamed about heaven and God. To her joy, one of her sisters, Bella, was there with her during the dream. Together they were given a tour of heaven and introduced to many people, including Jesus.
Upon waking, Emma felt the intense need to tell her mother, father, and Bella what had happened. But what will her parents think? And what messages will Emma take away from her visit to heaven?
I liked several aspects of this book. The first point I enjoyed the most was the stunning artwork present throughout this story. It is very well matched to the story and helps bring it more fully to life.
I also appreciated the readability of this book, as well as how the message that we should love God as he loves us is simplified, but not dumbed down as it is in so many other stories for children.
Lastly, I liked how footnotes guide the reader to whatever passage is being referenced during the story. It makes finding that passage in the Bible much easier, and it also opens the door for further review of the Bible itself.
I found nothing to dislike about this book. There were no noticeable errors to detract from this book, and I feel it to be exceptionally well-edited as a result.
Due to this, I am rating this story 4 out of 4 stars. I could find no justifiable reason to rate it less than perfect.
I believe that this book would be best suited for children aged six to ten years old. That age span covers the ages of the two most active characters in the book, and I think that readers of that age would find this book more relatable than other ages.
I do want to note that this book is firmly based on Christianity, and those of other religions will need an open mind if they chose to read this book or allow their children to read this book. Non-Christian parents will most likely need to be prepared for a slew of questions if their children do pick this book up.
