Review of Love, Grandma
The book Love, Grandma by Ann Morris is based on a true story. The author has two granddaughters. Since she lives nearby, she had an opportunity to see them often. She spent a lot of time with little Payton and Haley. Both granddaughters grew up before her eyes. Together with their grandmother, they read books, made cakes and played many funny games. This book is dedicated to the author’s memories of this wonderful time.
Love, Grandma is excellently edited. It has no typos or errors. The narration in Love, Grandma goes in poetic form. The author uses words simple enough to make her poetry understandable for little children. However, these ingenuous words of Ann Morris are enough to describe how wonderful she and her granddaughters spent time together. This book is sure to be read aloud to little children.
Besides, Love, Grandma is beautifully illustrated. This is very important for a children's book. Charming illustrations by artist David Gnass explain and complement the poetic text of Love, Grandma. For example, one of the poems says that little Payton's favorite toy was a stuffed beaver wearing hat. The beaver in the hat seems kind of weird. For this reason, Payton's preference seems odd too. Fortunately, readers can see this stuffed toy in the illustration and understand how cute this beaver really looked.
Therefore, Love, Grandma perfectly fits all requirements applicable to a children's book. This book is written in a plain style and is easy to read. It has beautiful illustrations and praises of family love. Apart from these obvious advantages, Love, Grandma has another merit. This is sincerity. While reading this book, you immediately understand that the author really loves her granddaughters very much.
It is difficult to find any shortcomings in Love, Grandma. Because of it, I give this great book 4 out of 4 stars. As mentioned earlier, this book is great for young children to read aloud.
