Shem Diana Moses is a creative writer who likes to write materials that help little girls of color to develop self-love and boost their confidence. Through this book, young girls with dark skin will learn why they are unique.

In My Skin is Lovely, Diana talks about the superpowers that young girls have. These superpowers are characteristics, and the author hopes to help her readers develop them, understand them, or be more comfortable having them. Examples of these superpowers include attitude, brains, culture, and so on. Each superpower has a dedicated chapter, and these chapters are arranged in alphabetical order. The book is short, with less than a hundred pages, and is full of colorful illustrations that will grab the attention of children.

I like how the author used the first-person narrative style to her advantage, and I believe this will help children with affirmations as they read. The book will also teach young girls of color to love their darker skin, regardless of what other people might think. Diana also wrote straightforwardly. She used simple words, so young readers won’t find it difficult to understand this book. I liked the illustrations in this book. The colors were vibrant, and the drawing style was unique, so they were pleasing to look at. I didn’t dislike anything about this book.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because the author did a fantastic job putting this book together. The book is coherent, and the quality is very good. Also, I didn’t come across any errors, so I believe that this book received exceptional editing. This book will have a positive impact on children, so parents should grab a copy and keep an eye out for similar books.

I recommend this book to young girls of color who have learned to read and are between the ages of 5 to 13. Parents with daughters who fall into these categories can pick this book up for their children, and read it to them to help them develop confidence.

Yes, black is beautiful! There is nothing like self-love and high self-esteem, especially for little girls. Thank you for your review.

This book is great for children. Instead of making them rely on superheroes, it makes them feel like superheroes.

I love the cover of this book already and I liked that the author dwelled on appreciation of one's skin colour. Nice!

The superpowers you listed sound exciting and relatable. Although I am a few years (decades?!) past the age of the target audience, this book may have to become part of my library.
Thank you for your excellent review and recommendation.

Yes, unique and lovely! I love the concept of the book. Spreading love and growing the esteem of young girls is a sure way of encouraging healthy emotional growth in young readers.

Great thanks to the author. Self-love and a high self-esteem results into self-superheroes but not others, thus children will learn to stay in majority other than hiding, wow!. How i wish every one introduces such a book to their family members. Nice review.
