Review of It's Okay
It's Okay: A Story of a Young Family Learning It's Okay to Not Always be Perfect is a children's book by M. S Freire. This book comprises just twenty-six pages.
The story starts with the narrator introducing us to her family, which comprises herself, her baby sister, her mommy, and her daddy. She goes ahead to identify different things about them, mostly about her. Do you think it's okay not to be perfect? Then your child would definitely love to read this book.
I did not have a hard time figuring out which audience this book would be most suitable for. Therefore, I recommend this book to children below the age of ten. This book would teach them the important lesson that no matter how things are, it's okay.
There are so many positive things to note about this book. First of all, this book made me feel young again. The illustrations drew me in easily. I also loved how a child seemingly told the story. I believe this would make children relate to it better. I must commend the author for this thoughtfulness. I also admired how minor lessons were added to the story. For example, the narrator noted that sometimes she watched too much TV, a significant issue amongst children. She also stated that she could do other things. This encourages the reading child to be able to do other things aside from watching TV.
The narrator uses the phrase "it's okay" almost throughout the book. This is a subtle reminder that it's okay not to be okay. The illustrations followed the story and showed a demonstration of what the narrator was saying. I did not find any error in this book; it was exceptionally well edited.
I did not find anything negative about this book. From the look of things, much thought was put into this work. It, therefore, deserves the perfect rating. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I enjoyed so many things about it. I enjoyed the illustrations and the deep-rooted lesson that it's okay. In the end, we need to teach our young ones that no matter how the day turns out, it's okay.
