Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat is the seventh book in the Inca Cat Detective series, and it is written by R.F. Kristi. It can be read as a standalone; however, there are references to characters and events from the previous books. If you are not familiar with the characters, or if you get confused, there is a family tree at the beginning with a brief explanation of them. This book is short but has many coloured pictures.

Inca is in Sri Lanka, relaxing on the beach and meeting turtles and elephants. Inca is there with Mom, Cara, Fromage, and Charlotte. Inca and the gang later hear that a famous sword was stolen from a museum. They immediately want to find out what happened and find the culprit. The question is, how will they find a culprit in an unknown land? Shortly after, Terrance and Solo arrive in Sri Lanka to investigate the case and find out where the sword is. Solo has solved crimes before. He is recognized internationally due to his fame.

Serendipity Mystery is a fast read. Even though the book is for children, there are a few challenging words. I believe this is a way for them to be emersed in new vocabulary. I also liked the illustrations because it is an easy way to picture the characters and the events happening.

I was a bit shocked to finish the book in one sitting. I did feel like it could have been slightly longer, or it could have mentioned the start of a new adventure. It finished a bit abruptly. I also wish we got to know the new characters, the baby turtle and elephant.

The book seems to be exceptionally edited, as I did not find any errors or typos. Due to the reasons stated above, I give this book 4 out of 4 stars.

I would recommend Serendipity Mystery to children who have read the previous books in the series. It is ideal for children between the ages of 8 to 10. However, I believe most children who like animals and detective stories would enjoy this. Also, it would be a great idea to read the book aloud to a younger crowd in a library or a classroom.
