[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The New Enchantress" by Sunayna Prasad.]
The New Enchantress (Alyssa McCarthy’s Magical Missions Book 3 by Sunayna Prasad is a children's book that tells the tale of magic and magical possibilities. It is the third book in the Alyssa McCarthy’s Magical Missions Book 3 series. In a world where magic exists, the control of magic for evil or good remains a distinguishing feature that grants one access to being accepted as a wizard or rejected. Perfect control and absolute obedience were the critical tests any child born to be a wizard or training to be a wizard had to pass to be certified.
Alyssa’s encounter with magic leaves her an enchantress for the rest of her life, but the magic she possesses makes her a threat to herself, everyone, and everything she loves. She has to learn to control it to get anything right. Learning to control her magic led her through horrific experiences that she would rather keep in the past than move on.
The desire to possess magic is alluring, though we may have had it at some point. This book opens you up to wild imaginations and possibilities. The New Enchantress (Alyssa McCarthy’s Magical Missions Book 3 is a book that tricks your mind into believing the impossible. The book is lined with so many adventurous tales and magic effects.
It is enchanting for one to imagine being in Alyssa’s shoes and being in control of so much magic and bearing all the troubles it brought to her. It was also very amusing reading about some of the experiences of the wizards in making themselves super powerful. An instance was when Boo-Champ Correy had to lock the animals away so that as their strengths waned, it made him more powerful.
The book brings to the limelight valuable lessons and themes that we could apply in our daily lives, especially the lessons of true friendship and genuine remorse for flawed characters. When Alyssa found out she had hurt her friends with her magic, she tried to make them understand she hadn’t meant to hurt them, though convincing them was difficult. Still, they forgave because they genuinely cared about her, which solidified their friendship. It also examines the roles of patience and perseverance. Alyssa fought with the difficulty of controlling her powers, but each time she failed, she tried again. This is the part I viewed as positive in the book.
After an exciting journey through this book and with no negative points, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It appears professionally edited, with minimal errors. I recommend this book to magic lovers. Kids not younger than ten and any reader who enjoys fictional stories with a mix of magic would also enjoy this one.
