The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted our lives and has affected both young and old. Young ones may find it difficult to understand why it is vital to keep using masks and to frequently wash their hands. The Big Bad Coronavirus! And How We Can Beat It by Lisa Carroll enlightens kids about the coronavirus.

It's the first day of another school year. Lisa took the bus to school as usual but observed that kids are not permitted to sit together as before. She also noticed that different precautionary signs had been placed on the school walls, and there were see-through boxes on the desks. Lisa's fear of the coronavirus increased greatly. Thankfully, her mother helped her gain the needed knowledge about the dreaded virus. This included all the ways the virus can be contracted and how to avoid being infected. This kept her fear at bay and fully equipped her to avoid the "big, bad virus."

This children's book of 31 pages is well designed to help children understand all the important facts about the coronavirus. Creative illustrations highlight the four major precautions which are required to avoid contracting the disease. These pictures can help kids memorize these important precautions.

Despite the limitations imposed by the pandemic, Lisa actively participated in school. She and her best friend, Alfie, worked hard on the class project and were able to turn in impressive drawings, which highlighted how to stay safe from the coronavirus.

I particularly love the colorful and expressive illustrations of the coronavirus. The illustration on page 31 which depicted the virus as being disappointed due to the use of sanitizers is my favorite part of the book. It was downright comical.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was exceptionally well edited. I have no dislikes about it. The grammar is simple and easy to understand. Kids between the ages of 4 to 7 years of age will find the book very appealing.

I think you make a great point about the illustrations. The cover art is certainly very good and so much better than those endless renditions of grey balls with red spikes! Great review!

Educating children on the pandemic using a fun children story book is a really good way to get them to understand everything about the virus.
