[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Roarasaurus" by Great-aunt Rita(and she really is GREAT!) with lots of help from Jake and Elina Farber.]
Roarasaurus by Great-aunt Rita(and she really is GREAT!) with lots of help from Jake and Elina Farber is a fascinating children's book. Fun fact: it's a true story. During birthdays and unique celebrations, we often wonder what we'll gift our kids. Children are intrigued by numerous items, and among them are animal toys.
It is Jake's birthday, and his aunt, Great-Aunt Rita, wonders what to buy him. Therefore, she goes to the store and sees animal toys. The dinosaur toys captivate her eyes, so she picks one and has it wrapped nicely. Before leaving, the seller informs Great-Aunt Rita that the selected dinosaur toy is distinctive because it can walk and talk.
When Jake receives the disguised gift, he is elated and unwraps it. But it does not behave as his aunt was told. Great-Aunt Rita reads the manual and discovers the toy needs batteries, so she does as per the instructions. But things take a wild turn! The dinosaur becomes a nuisance in the house; it roars and walks all over. But Jake learns a lesson from his mum at the end. What does Jake's mum tell her son?
From the word go, the book is full of pictures. Oh boy! They're picturesque, especially the nuisance dinosaur toy. I could create an image of the noises it made. I loved that. Furthermore, I envied the affection between Jake and Great-Aunt Rita; it was so infectious! Her love for her nephew was astounding to the point of buying him a unique gift.
The concluding page has a notable pictorial. The author inserts a picture of herself, her nephew (Jake), and niece (Elina). The inclusion was bold and moving! I did not dislike anything. Hence, I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. I found no errors, so it is exceptionally well edited. I recommend the work to young kids willing to read a short story about love, family, and dinosaurs.
