Pud is a cat that lives with his family. The members of his family include Sue, Ben, and their son, Theo. Pud wants to be a great swimmer, he wants to be braver, he wants to be smarter, and he wants to be more than just a house cat. One day, he wakes up on a truck and discovers that he has no idea where he is. He had taken a nap on the truck when the gardener came to mow the grass at their home. What would he do now? Would he be able to find his way back home? Will Pud become more than just a house cat? Find answers in Pud- The WANNABE Cat by Brian Murphy.

I enjoyed this publication for some reasons. First, the first-person narrative style the author adopted made me see things from Pud’s perspective in a way that gave me insights into the way some cats perceive certain things. Another thing I like about this book is the colorful and distinctive illustrations that are provided throughout the pages. Those pictures make it easy to follow the story, and they also help capture the attention of children and keep them glued until the end. Readers would also learn about the event that inspired the author to pen down this tale; this story is provided at the end of the book.

Additionally, I like how the writer often described sounds. For example, on one occasion, Murphy wrote that Pud heard the sound “squawk,” after which he saw an enormous eagle approach him. Because of the way the author writes those sounds, kids can learn about some of the sounds different animals make.

Despite the positives, I feel like the story is incomplete. The author introduced a bird at the beginning of the tale as Pud's greatest enemy and showed a couple of instances where the bird troubled Pud. However, nothing was written about what became of the bird.

Nonetheless, this is a good book, and I enjoyed reading it. Moreover, the text is exceptionally edited. I didn’t notice any errors. I rate this piece 3 out of 4 stars. The one point I deducted is a result of the negative point I explained in the previous paragraph. This publication deserves no less than three stars because the positive points outweigh the negative aspects. I suggest this publication to children between four and eight. Lovers of cat stories would enjoy this read.

Nice review! I have to say, I love the idea of a 'wannabe cat.' Usually, cats are described as independent and uninterested in their humans (or at least uninspired), but Pud's story shows cats' much more sympathetic viewpoint.

Ahh, thanks for such an entertaining review. You make the book sound appealing and amusing. Pud seems to have a great character. As someone whose never really understood cats I'm intrigued that it is written from the cat's perspective. It looks like he'll have the biggest adventure of his life now that he's lost.
Now, where is that bird eh?

"Pud - The WANNABE Cat" is a book about a cat named Pud who gets lost and wants to be more than just a house cat. I liked the way the author wrote from Pud's perspective and the colorful illustrations that make the story interesting for kids. The story feels a bit incomplete because the author doesn't mention what happens to the bird that is introduced as Pud's enemy. Overall, I think it's a good book, well edited, and I give it 3 out of 4 stars. It's a good read for children between four and eight who like cat stories.

**Pud's pawsome adventure shines! First-person purrspective & vibrant illustrations draw you in. Soundful world & cat insights delight, though birdie loose end lingers. Great for 4-8 year olds & feline fanatics. 3/4 stars, purrfect for young paws to explore!**

Good review. A cat that wants to be a swimmer is an ambiguous cat. This story will teach kids about the habits of cats, the sounds that some animals make, and more. Our friend Pud got lost chasing his dreams and had to find his way home.

A story that will give kids an imaginative world on how pets/cats think and their reactions to certain situations that mostly happen. This will give a more undertanding to cats behaviour and actions that are mostly seen in them. Also educates the kids on which of the animals are friendly to cats and which are not like the wombat and eagles.

The cover is really well done.. with his little fangs poking out, and eyes looking for trouble! Keith Blake’s illustrations are realistic and not cartoonish, which is lovely. A well laid out children’s book describing Pud’s adventures, and all the animals involved. It’s quite educational too; peaking children’s interest in wildlife. I enjoyed it, and I’m an adult!

While reading about Pud, my mind went my cat and I wonder if my cat wants the same thing because most times, he prefers to be on his own. Back to Pud, I think the incident that happened to Pud will give him a chance to be more. Congratulations on BOTD!!

I think my daughter would love this story. It is refreshing to read the story from a cat's perspective. This book gives an insight into a cat's feelings how it is dissatisfied with its life. Does Pud find his way back. Read to know more.

Pud is based on the true account of author cherished cat, who vanished for a fortnight. He came back one night and sobbed outside until his owner allowed him inside. It made them quite delighted to see him. I read this book because it was free before entering the BOTD. The illustrations in the book are extremely amazing.Pud is a feline who resides with his household. His family consists of Ben, Sue, and their son Theo. Pud dreams of being more than just a house cat; he wants to be a great swimmer, bolder, smarter, and more. I like Pud's story. Review is written and explains very well. Congratulations on BOTD, author.
