A young boy is in a haunted house! The happenings in there are frightening. Then a ghost comes out of nowhere and startles him. They stare at each other. The ghost yells at the boy, and off he runs up the staircase. When more ghosts appear, he devises a plan to scare them too. He confronts and terrifies them. Our young boy encounters a mouse that reminds him of something he’s forgotten. What does the mouse inform him?

The facial expressions of the boy spoke volumes. When he first encountered the ghost, you’d tell he was scared much by just looking at the illustrations. If anything, I have to credit the illustrator because they performed a commendable job. A picture of a pumpkin and bats took the day. The ghosts were scary to imagine having an encounter with one. I enjoyed that.

The young boy was lovely to view, and his dressing only made him cuter. I developed chills throughout by just looking at the spiders and bats. Without a doubt, you could tell the house was indeed haunted. I loved how the young boy faced his fears of ghosts flying right, left, and center.

When I started devouring the book, I took time to look at the pictorials because they were stunning. The protagonist had a burst of infectious laughter, and a mouse comes into play as the book concludes. Because I did not find anything to loathe, I rate The Haunted House, Bubba Rouse, & The Mouse by L. G. Ingle (Lawrence Ingle) 4 out of 4 stars.

The author’s intention when crafting the book was to make someone laugh along the way or at least chuckle or smile. And trust me, he did a very excellent job because I was elated all along, especially the part with the mouse. Without a single grammatical flaw, the work is skillfully edited. I recommend it to kids looking for an exciting read with scary yet funny content.
