R.F. Kristi has created an enchanting book that will likely be a favorite with kids everywhere. Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula features Inca, a Siberian kitty who runs a detective agency called Inca & Company. In this creative story, Inca’s human mom takes Inca and his fellow kitties to South Korea. Their mom has been invited to be a judge in a French patisserie competition there. This competition includes participants from both North Korea and South Korea, and it is designed to help promote peace between the two countries. Mom will also present her new cheese line during the trip. There’s an adventure in store for the kitties as they get involved in a quest to help reunite family members who are currently separated between the two countries.

Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula had many aspects that I enjoyed. The story is engaging, and the characters are delightful. Each of the kitties has a distinct personality. For example, Fromage is a cheese-loving kitty who takes pride in being a mascot for Mom’s cheese line. Inca is a smart kitty who is also quite proud and comments that he is “purrrfect.” In addition to a great storyline, the book’s wonderful illustrations bring the story to life.

I also appreciated how the book provides an opportunity for kids to learn something new. In this case, the book gives some insight into the Korean peninsula. This story shares a glimpse into how the split between North Korea and South Korea impacts those with loved ones on either side. It’s great for kids to be able to learn in such an entertaining way.

I didn’t have any criticisms about the book. I found it to be fun and interesting to read. This book is part of a series, although it also stands alone. This is the second book I have read in the series, and I have enjoyed both. Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is also exceptionally well edited. I found no grammatical errors. Based on all the book’s positive aspects, I rated it 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend the book to children ages 7 to 11. Kids will enjoy the engaging story, the fun illustrations, and the opportunity to learn something new about another part of the world.
