Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R. F. Kristi is a short, suspenseful children’s book about a cat named Inca and her friends. It is the eighth book in The Inca Cat Detective series. We start off by learning the exciting news that Inca’s owner has been invited to be a judge for an exclusive baking competition in the DMV. The DMV (Korean Demilitarized Zone) is an area on the Korean Peninsula. There, bakers from both North and South Korea will compete for the grand prize. Inca’s owner is also a famous cheese maker and will launch her brand-new creation at the competition. When Inca & Co. land in South Korea, they are welcomed by a tour guide, Ye-Jun. After spending some time with Ye-Jun, Inca discovers that Ye-Jun’s sister, Ji, currently lives in North Korea. It’s been a long time since the siblings have been able to see each other, and they wish to reunite. Ye-Jun’s dog, Baram, dearly misses Ji’s cat, Bo-mi. Inca makes the courageous decision to cross the border into North Korea and rescue Bo-mi, hoping it will help the siblings reunite sooner. Will Inca and her friends succeed?

Inca's epic story was told in journal form. There would be a title depicting the day and month, and then paragraphs of Inca's thoughts underneath. And she sure is quite opinionated!

Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula was a very interesting story about the importance of helping our friends and family, but also not charging into dangerous situations recklessly. I loved that each character had their own personality, and everyone's personality worked well together. There was also a good blend of romance and friendship.

The themes taught throughout the book were quite on point. The pictures found throughout the book were fun to look at, if not the most professional. They helped me enjoy the story more. The story was also professionally edited, as I couldn't find many grammar or punctuation errors within it.

All in all, it was a fascinating book. I don't think there were any negative points, which I find quite rare! So I have no choice but to rate this book four out of four stars. I'm sure it's a book that children would enjoy reading, and I definitely encourage you to check it out. I hope you (or your child) will also find it enjoyable.
