Have you ever imagined how fun and simple life would be if you saw everything from a positive point of view? Imagine being insulted or given bad news, but instead of lashing out, you say, "This is the best day of my life." That would not only brighten your day, but it would also brighten the day of others.

Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure is a nonfiction children's book by Catherine A. Pepe. The book comprises 151 pages and 17 chapters. In the book, Donny Miller, a five-year-old boy, and Mary Grace Miller, a ten-year-old girl, stayed with their parents, Mr and Mrs Miller, in Wichita, but due to some crisis in Kenya, Mr and Mrs Miller are sent to Kenya to aid the people there for two years. After several conversations, they concluded that Donny and Mary Grace wouldn't be following them to Kenya but would be sent to California to stay with their grandparents. Mary Grace initially opposed moving to California and leaving her parents because she didn't want to be apart from them and because she believed staying in California wouldn't be as fun as Witchita. Give the book a try and find out for yourself if it was a bore or if she had the most fun time of her youth in California.

I truly enjoyed every aspect of this book, from the drawings that began each chapter to the writing style. My favourite character in the book is Donny. Even though he's just ten years old and has Down syndrome, his attitude towards life was contagious in a good way. He put a smile on my face each time he did something that even a fully grown adult would find difficult to do. It may be because of Down syndrome, or perhaps it's just the way that he is, but whichever the case was, I loved Donny. And then there is Mary Grace, Donny's loving sister. After seeing how she treated and loved him, anyone would desire that type of familial affection. Indeed, she was the perfect image of what a big sister should be.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this book. It had no errors, nor did it have flaws. Instead, I learned a strategy for making my day better. Like Donny, each time we wake up, we should try to say something positive; it doesn't necessarily have to be "This is the best day of my life."

I wholeheartedly rate this book four out of four stars. Not only does it not contain any errors, but it also has a lot of good aspects from which children can learn.

Although this is a children's book, I highly recommend this book to not just children but also to adults. This book would specifically be great for those longing to learn how to see things from a positive aspect.

I am a bit curious about this book. From your review, it sounds like it is all happy and positive. But wouldn't that be a bit boring read for an adult? Are there any dark parts in the book to complement the happy ones?

We should always be positive in every area of life especially in spoken words since there are no errors, which means it was well edited.
