Cat Detectives In The Korean Penisula by R.F. Kristi is the eighth book in the series featuring a Siberian cat named Inca, who is the top sleuth in her agency. In this new adventure, we follow Inca and her entourage to the Korean Peninsula, which is a buffer zone between North and South Korea. Here, Missy, their owner, will judge a cook-off between both sides, but not before a wicked man named Enzo nearly steals her prize-winning cheese.

This children’s book was such a joy to read. It kept my full attention from start to finish with a well-executed plot that provided an entertaining and educational storyline. The reader learns about animal breeds, history, geography, and more through insightful tidbits, and the learning experiences never feel forced upon the reader.

I have nothing negative to say about this book. Kristi has written the story in the first person, with Inca being the narrator. The other animals in the book also speak, and each one has a distinctive personality of its own. What is not to love about adorable pets that are looking out for each other and their owners? This is a book everyone will love. It would be great in classrooms where teachers can use the story as a teachable moment.

The book had colorful pictures on the pages depicting what was going on. There were headings with the days of the week so the reader could stay on track. There were no errors in the book. It was well-written, and the colorful cover was appealing. For those reasons, I give the book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to young readers, mainly in elementary school or animal lovers. Inca’s adventures as a detective can also be a read-out-loud book by public educators, homeschoolers, or parents. There is enough going on in the story to keep the child's attention.
