Review of Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure
Donny was born with Down syndrome. His elder sister's name is Mary Grace, and they are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Miller. Their father is a priest, and their mother is a civil engineer. Donny is shown so much love that no one notices he is different. He also has a lot of love to share. These two children enjoy going to the zoo. Unfortunately, the children's parents have some bad news for them. Both the mother and father are required to travel to Kenya, Africa, for missionary work, which will take them two years. And the kids will move to California to live on their grandparents' ranch with Papa Steve and Grandma Cathy. Mary Grace expects it will be difficult for her to settle in California, but she is in for a big surprise. What is that unexpected event? To learn more, read Catherine Anna Pepe's children's book Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure.
I really like the way the author wrote this story. It's simple to follow and comprehend. There are no plot twists to perplex the reader. The flow is engaging, making the reader want to keep reading until the end. Mary Grace's personality is admirable. The words of this storybook convey her genuine concern and love for her brother. She didn't consider him a burden. She, too, is understanding. I admire their family as well. Their profound bond is admirable. In their family, love is a strong suit. When parents consider their children in any decision they make, it endears the children to them.
This story is also a lesson for bullies, and I hope that young children will learn that talking down or negatively about a friend is not acceptable. It will only cause problems for such children. This short story can teach parents, siblings, acquaintances, and relatives of people with Down syndrome how to treat them properly. Being patient, caring, and loving them will make them feel like everyone else.
This book has nothing that I dislike about it. I found no mistake while reading, so it's perfectly edited. I give this 4 out of 4 stars because the author did an excellent job. Similarly, I discovered something amusing. Donny's speech is more developed than that of the majority of people I know who have Down syndrome. Is it because of the treatment? I'm hoping the author will respond.
This is something I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys adventure books. Also, for those who want to pass the time with an interesting and educational story. Children aged 7 to 13 will find it appealing as well. It contains a few pictures, so it will captivate them.
