Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is the eighth book in The Inca Cat Detective Series. Inca is a smart kitten and she heads a famous detective agency in London. She is Siberian and has a human mom. Inca and her family are traveling to South Korea under the guidance of their mother. Their mom had created a new type of cheese which she was excited about, and she was given an invite by a famous French school of cookery called Le Cordon Bleu to be one of the judges in a cooking competition between some South and North Korean chefs. It was one of the top cookery schools in the world, and she was delighted to be given such an honor by the school. She plans to use it as an opportunity to present her new cheese to other top chefs.

They met Enzo during their flight. He was also a chef. Enzo was their mother's biggest competitor, and he was jealous of her success. His restaurants and stores were no longer ranked first ever since Inca's mom started hers and he felt threatened. He had plans to ruin the new cheese. Will they be able to stop him?

I liked the font used in the book; it was playful and easy to read. The book also had beautiful pictures of the characters and different scenes in the book that made it more fun to read. I'm sure that the pictures in the book will be very appealing to children. Inca, the main character, loves to travel and solve mysteries. The story was easy to follow, and the author took care not to use difficult words that children can't understand.

I think this book will be too long for young children. It has up to 100 pages, and normally young children don't like to read books with too many pages. Some parts in the book were not necessary; for example, Inca's fight with Bo-Mi. I don't see any reason why that part was included in the book.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was an interesting animal story that any child would love, and the pictures were cheerful. The book was professionally edited too.

I recommend this book to children between the ages of 4 and 9. It is a good choice for children who love pets, so I suggest you get a copy for that child in your life. Adults who like to read children's books will also find this one interesting.
