[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Sneaky,The Hairy Mountain Monster" by Norma Fleagane.]
We often underestimate how much we could influence people's lives by telling them we love them. Blake and Makayla did more than just save Sneaky, who was depressed by showing him they cared. It all began when Makayla brought up the idea of playing soccer after they were done helping their grandparents decorate the house for Easter.
Blake wanted to play baseball or football, but he bought into Makayla's idea of playing soccer. While playing the ball, they kicked the ball so hard that it rolled down the hill. Despite their efforts to get it quickly, it wasn't easy considering the ball moved too fast. After some time chasing it, they caught up with it down the hill. Makayla then remembered Sneaky, who she always feared as a child, and told Blake it was high time they paid him a visit, which came as a shock to Blake, knowing how scared Makayla was whenever she saw Sneaky. Sneaky gave them a warm reception when they arrived. The duo proceeded to ask him why he was lonely, which prompted him to talk about this sad story. The book Sneaky, The Hairy Mountain Monster by Norma Fleagane, is worth a read if you want to learn about the monster's sad story.
Despite how fantastic this storyline seems to be and how effective the lessons are, I still think that this book has some loopholes. First of all, I would start with how unappealing the book was as a children's book. I don't think any child would want to read a book without any pictures or lengthy words on each page. I think compressing the story into 5 pages was uncalled for. It made it look soluble. Secondly, I think children are easily attracted to what they see. I think adding a picture or diagrammatic representation of the story would have added sauce to it.
It's a pity that a book with such an interesting storyline wasn't carefully planned before it was published. I love how the author ended the book with a question. It will give any reader something to ponder. Just like Sneaky, there are a lot of people who are misunderstood because of their demeanour, but once you become acquainted with them, you'll learn to understand them better.
I found a couple of errors, which didn't sit well with me considering the small pages the book had. I'd like to say that the book wasn't edited properly. This book is a very nice read for children and those who love reading children's books. I'd give it a 3 out of 4 stars for the problems I encountered and mentioned earlier. The editing team did poor work in spacing the words. I'm only rating this book higher than two because of the storyline.
