Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Cathy Pepe is a book that tells the story of Mary Grace and her brother, Donny, who suffers from down syndrome. They were happy kids enjoying their lives feeling all would stay the same. However, things could not remain the same forever as their parents had to go away for a while, leaving them in the care of their grandparents. Mary Grace hated the change but after a while, she embraced it like Donny, who was happy every step of the way.

One positive thing about this book is that it stresses the importance of taking care of the mentally disabled. Donny was suffering from down syndrome but he never bothered about it. Mary Grace treated him like a normal boy and took very good care of him. This book shows that one can have a problem and still live life as happily as Donny did.

This book also stresses how bad bullying is and what to do when a person is being bullied. The book gives practical steps on how to react to bullies and this is one of the most important lessons one can learn from this book.

Another positive aspect of this book is the use of dialogue. This book is filled with conversations between various people, and these conversations help tell the story better than a narration would. It guides the reader every step of the way through the book.

I could not find anything negative about this book while reading it. Also, I did not come across any grammatical errors while reading this book, which leads me to believe that this book was very well edited.

I will rate this book 4 stars out of 4. I would rate it higher if I could since the book is an excellent read and I will recommend this book to all parents whose kids require special needs and all who are or have experienced bullying at any point in their lives.
