Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure by Catherine Anna Pepe is an engaging story about ten-year-old Mary Grace and her younger brother Donny, who has Down Syndrome. It is a story about their time spent in California with their grandparents while their parents were away.

Mary Grace and her brother Donny love playing with the zoo animals, particularly the penguins. For this reason, their parents always take them to the zoo for some fun time. They were such a happy family together. Hence, it made Mary Grace miserable when she learned that her parents were leaving for Kenya on missionary work. Arrangements were made for the kids to go live with their grandparents for the period during which their parents would be away.

Donny, in particular, was happy and cheerful as always when he got the news, but Mary Grace was sad. She thought of all her friends she would miss, her school, and the thought of starting everything afresh in California terrified her. Will she and Donny be able to adapt to new living and schooling conditions in California? You will have to find out when you read this book.

Even though this book is for children, adults of all ages can also read and enjoy it. This is because the 'Grandma Gang' activities in this book will particularly interest older readers. The Grandma Gang comprises a group of three older women who love solving mysteries. They are always ready to help their family and friends with solving cases. The author, Catherine Anna Pepe, gracefully told a story involving a happy childhood irrespective of disabilities and active senior citizens.

A smile was constantly plastered on my face throughout the period I read this book. I was happy with how Mary Grace's new school in California handled the case of bullying. I love the dedicated care given to students who need special care. I loved how Donny's positive energy was never allowed to diminish.

I couldn't find anything to dislike in this book. I literally went back to reread my favorite parts of the book immediately after I finished it. I couldn't get enough of Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure by Catherine Anna Pepe. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of the above reasons. The book was professionally edited, as I didn't encounter any grammatical or spelling errors.

I will gladly recommend this book to anyone who loves a well-written and well-plotted book. I have not read any books in a long time that left me so satisfied and thrilled.

Bullying is something alot of children pass through. We are all equal we shouldn't take one's disability as an opportunity to downgrade them. This book offers special lessons. Thanks for the review.

I can relate to Mary Grace being sad. Truly it's not easy to leave an environment where your friends and loved ones are to a totally new and different environment

I have also read this book and I must say that the book left me in awe of it. In a long while, I have not read a children's book that is so well plotted and full of lessons and morals for both kids and adults. This book, Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure by Catherine A. Pepe is simply the best!

Very nice review. I read this book and I enjoyed reading it too. The California Adventures were thrilling for Mary Grace and Donny, even as one would assume that grandparents aren't so fun. The lessons that came with the story are valuable and should be learned.

It can't have been easy for Donny living with Down Syndrome. However, from your review he sounds like a cheerful kid. I look forward to all they do in California. Great review.

One great feature of this book for me is the inclusion of likable characters from Mary Grace and her brother to the grandparents. This is a book that children will enjoy and learn a lot from. Nice review.
