Cat Detectives In The Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is a children's book that has a fairly simple plot. It is a mystery book for kids and follows the adventures of the animal investigator, Inca. Inca the cat is the leader of an animal detective agency. Inca's human mom is a renowned chef who creates a new brand of cheese and is also supposed to judge a culinary competition in the Korean peninsula. This leads Inca and its friends on an interesting journey. Can Inca, Polo, and Terrance complete their mission? This book is the eighth book in the Inca Cat Detective Series.

This book is well executed as a children's book. It completes the four horsemen of children's books, which include: it has a moral, its characters are all good, it is easy to comprehend, and it offers a sense of joy. It ticks all four boxes excellently and also makes use of words that are very descriptive and easily understood by kids. This is one of the positive aspects of this book. The author also makes use of pictures that help tell the story better and are more fun for children.

Even though this book is the eighth in the series, it is easy to read this as a stand-alone because of the volume of information the author provides about the background or history of the entire family. It seems Kirsti tries to get the reader up to speed on some of the things they need to know rather than get them to read all the other seven installments. There is even an inclusion of the family tree at the beginning of this book.

One thing I enjoyed about this book is the strategic use or injection of suspense. I did not expect to enjoy this book the way I did because I did not believe there would be a high level, or even any, amount of suspense involved. The author makes the reader wonder what will occur next and her description of locations are exceptional. Their visit to the demilitarized zone in Korea was a thrilling event that I enjoyed.

While reading this book, I did not come across any negative aspects. As would be expected, there are no sexually charged scenes or profane language. This is because this book was intended for kids.

I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I rated this book this way because it was a well-executed book that contained no grammatical errors. I would recommend this book to parents for use as a bedtime storybook.
