[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Larry the Llama Learns about Love" by Janet Ashmore.]
Larry the Llama Learns about Love by Janet Ashmore is a concise illustration of love, a fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is centered on love. The author used animals to emphasize the importance of love and kindness to humanity.
Larry took his first job at the baby animal farm. He took good care of the animals that played in the pasture. He also scared away wild animals that came to kill the baby animals using his physical characteristics; he was fast, tall, had a long neck, and had poisonous saliva. He spat on destructive animals that came to attack the farmer's pasture following the thunderstorm; Larry left the animals under his care and went in quest of what was outdoors. Lilly, the lamb, wanted to follow him. How does this adventure end for them?
I enjoyed reading this book. It's an inspiration to love and show compassion to people we come across. No matter how offended we are, we must show love and kindness towards everyone. Larry didn't do what was right. He abandoned the baby animals. But the farmer forgave him and told him he loved him. Christ loved us, and that is why he died for us. There's no greater love than that which Jesus showed us, so we ought to show love to our friends and everyone we meet.
The fascinating aspect of this book is the diagrams. These drawings make the book an intriguing one. They relayed the message appropriately, especially given the audience the book was written for. Kids will enjoy having this handy. The drawings will capture their attention quickly, and they'll find reading an exciting experience. I believe that kids learn more from what they see than what they hear, and there was no better way to illustrate the book's contents. The names of the animals were suitable for the characters. Their sounds are as well. All these will go a long way in passing that message of love to the children.
I didn't dislike anything at all. Everything was placed in order. Brief and straight to the point, with colored pictures to make it all the more exciting and morals that can be taught to kids. The book was exceptionally well edited. I didn't spot any errors.
This book deserves a perfect four out of four. It is strongly recommended for kids. At the end of the book, the fruits of the Holy Spirit were highlighted from Galatians 5 verses 22 and 23 to show other fruits of the Holy Spirit apart from love. If you're looking for a book that is easy to understand, excellently illustrated, and will make your child grow spiritually and acquire moral values, grab this book.
