Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is the eighth children’s book in the Inca Cat Detective Series, written by R.F. Kristi. In this volume, we follow Inca and her family and their adventures in a cooking competition held in South Korea, where we meet some new characters and learn about North and South Korea’s culture and organization.

At the start of the book, Inca’s mom is invited to be the judge in a French patisserie competition held in South Korea, where she can present her new cheese and promote her cheese shops and restaurants. Later on, Inca discovers that their mom’s biggest competition, Enzo, is also going to be a judge and will most likely try to sabotage her presentation somehow. Once they arrive in South Korea, they meet Ye-Jun and settle in his house. There they hear the story of his sister and cat, who are in North Korea and haven't seen their family in a long time. But since Ye-Jun’s sister is going to participate in the competition, there might be a chance to reunite the family again. Read the rest of Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula to find out how this adventure ends.

I loved this book and the story it tells. I think it is a great way for children to understand the division between North and South Korea and has a lot of lessons about family, love, and friendship. The illustrations made by Jorge Valle enhance the book beautifully and tie the whole story together.

I can’t think of anything negative to say about this book, and I only found two minor errors throughout. Considering these points, I give Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula four out of four stars.

I recommend this book to young readers between the ages of eight to twelve who are animal lovers and enjoy reading about fun adventures.

This book is the most interesting children's book that I have come across so far. I like how Inca and his detective friends displayed selflessness in the face of danger. Also, the subtle reminder of the need to stop the war between North and South Korea was a key message. I enjoyed reading your review. Well done!

I think books like this should be promoted as we battle to convert so many social vices and segregation in our contemporary world. I'd love to read it to my kids.
