t was Christmas time, and there was a big tree in the meadow wrapped with lights. This Christmas was going to be a special one as Carly and Charlie had a big plan. They planned a big surprise for Ole Grumps. Ole Grumps was a mean coyote who had been separated from the rest of his pack. They decided on the gift they intended to give him. With the help of Charlie, Queen Nora, Journey, and others, they were able to make this gift for Ole Grumps. What gift did they get for Ole Grumps?

It is important to teach children morals at a young age so that they grow up with them, and this book is packed with a lot of morals. It teaches care, kindness, teamwork, and friendship. Carly and Charlie always had Ole Grumps in their hearts. They planned to make him happy by getting him a gift, despite that he had been mean to them. The pictures in this book were bright and colorful. Any child will be attracted to them.

The character development in this book was poor. A lot of characters popped up from nowhere. This threw me off even as an adult. Another problem I had with this book was that one could not know the animal that was being talked about. For instance, Charlie is a llama, but this was not made clear. I had to wait until later in the book to figure it out. This may seem a bit tiring for children considering how short their attention span is. Some of the words used may pose a problem for some children too.

Sadly, I will be reducing the rating of this book because of the reasons previously stated and because the storyline was not really catchy. I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. There were no errors, and it was exceptionally edited.

I recommend Five Mile Charlie by Kimberly Adams to children between the ages of 5 and 8. Some children may not be able to read and enjoy this book alone without the aid of a grownup.

There's this saying 'Catch them young.' I believe this book is one of the tools for doing this. It will guide children to become adults with good morals and habits. Good review.
