Many children have a special relationship with their grandmothers. Children get attached very easily, and sometimes it is difficult to explain why a certain person is no longer there. Mom, where is My Gigi? by Alice Anne Townsend is a short children's book that shows the importance of the relationship that grandchildren have with their grandmothers.

This book is very short and can be read in just a few minutes. On each page of the book, there is one interrogative sentence in which the child asks where his grandmother is. Throughout the book, the child makes suggestions as to where the grandmother could be. In addition, each question is accompanied by a drawing that describes it.

If I had to highlight the positive aspects of this short book, that would be its concept and lesson. The author stresses that the relationship between a grandchild and a grandmother is special and significant. In addition, she describes the confusion that can arise when the grandmother is gone. Parents must handle children's questions with care and caution. All in all, I think that one of the main ideas of this book is to emphasize that parents must enable their children to spend as much time as possible with their grandparents because those moments will remain beautiful memories for them when they grow up. Also, I am glad that the pictures in the book are actually children's drawings, which gives a special charm and playfulness to the entire book. Another plus is that I didn't encounter any grammatical or typographical errors.

On the other hand, I didn't like some features of this book. First of all, the book is too short for my taste and lacks both textual and pictorial content. Secondly, the layout of the pages and the balance of text and images do not seem to be adequately done. In addition, the content is only on one side of the paper, which appears to be a waste of paper. Also, the book does not have any introduction or foreword, nor does it have any kind of conclusion.

All things considered, I give this book 2 out of 4 stars. The reasons for the slightly lower rating are the mentioned negative elements. I would have preferred the book to be a bit more complex and longer. As for the recommendation, I believe the book would be ideal for children of kindergarten age who spend a lot of time with their grandmothers.

Sometimes authors feel that if a book is "just for cildren" they don't have to be as careful with it. Not true! Kids are even more perceptive than adults, usually. It's a good topic, though.
