Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe revolves around a ten-year-old Mary Grace and her little brother Donny, five-year-old who had down syndrome. The father, Mr. Miller was a priest while Mrs. Miller was a civil engineering. Both siblings love adventures. The story begins with suspension dramatic plot with panic stricken of a family who just noticing one of their children gone missing and this plot make readers feels like wanting to know what’s will be happened next.

The things that I like about this book is how the author describe the situation to make the readers imagine the images. For example, when Mary Grace tries to find her missing brother at the zoo. Entering the next plot, from a peaceful and heart-warming family become quite distance between parents and children. Many questionable answers cannot be thought and described by a little child around Mary Grace and Donny age as for why they had to move to Africa.

From the whole of the story, it explained the important of loved ones which was family. I loved the way of the writer encouraging readers in reading with beautiful plots with development of characters, experiences, and the touch of emotion of children that can touch readers’ heart.
I rate this book, Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure by Catherine A. Pepe 4 out of 4 stars . The book is entertaining and educational. It teaches merits such as kindness and patience. I don’t have any complaints regarding the book.

I recommend this book not only for children reading but also for parents who had a child just like Donny. This will help them to understand their children characteristic and help them to be more motivated. Not only that, but this book also contains many good virtues and thinking skills on what will happened and what to do for next.
