A Special Day in Jasper, Texas USA is a children’s book written in memory of a woman named Martha. The book is an educational book written by Jermaine Kenyatta.

The book is about a young girl named Martha. Martha is a student who has resumed schooling at a coloured school. Martha’s mother, who couldn’t stop her daughter from attending that school, advised her on what to do once she arrived. Martha made a friend and befriended her teacher, Mrs. Gannon. Martha goes through different ordeals, being the only black student in the school. She finally had an intriguing day, which turned things around for her. How was Martha able to handle her school problems? How did the other black students react to the fact that she went to a coloured school? Read this book to know how Martha survives in a different environment.

A Special Day in Jasper, Texas USA, by Jermaine Kenyatta, is a story of what Martha experienced as a young girl. The 31-page book focuses on racism, love, and self-esteem. The author added a photo of the woman, Martha, to the book’s cover. The book also contained memory pages towards the end for memory notes from people.

This book is an intriguing one with a great storyline. I enjoyed that Martha was able to speak for herself when situations arose. I admired the life of Martha and how she took up the challenge to survive as a black student. The best part of the book was when the teacher took Martha as a special helper. The teacher’s kindness made me realise how simple acts can change a person forever. I rate this book four out of four stars because of its proper editing and engagement.

There was nothing to dislike about this book. Although the author did not give the book chapters, it carried subtitles. The subtitles were capitalized and written boldly, which made them stand out. The book was professionally well-edited, as I found only two errors while reading it.

I recommend A Special Day in Jasper, Texas USA, by Jermaine Kenyatta, to lovers of short children’s stories. This book is suitable for readers ages 9–12. Older readers can also get a copy, as there are lessons for everyone to learn.

These themes, like racism, may be more advanced for children to read about. However, it is a book I will enjoy reading. The main character shows strength to deal with the challenges she faces throughout the story.

We never know how our kind acts will affect the receiver on that specific day and maybe for the rest of their lives. That teacher probably didn’t realize the impact she had on Martha.

From the cover, I did not expect much from the book. It didn't look inviting to me. But your review has changed this impression by using the word 'intriguing to describe the plot. I am now open to reading this book too.

Wow, you really captured the essence of the book in your review. I always encourage people to speak up for themselves. It's a relief to find here in this review that Martha did just that for herself. Your insights and observations were spot on and really helped me get a feel for the book.

I can really see that the book deserves the rating given to it. Martha did well obeying her mother. I would love to get a copy of the book and find out what the colored students did. Thanks for writing a great review.

From the review, I figured that Martha was faced with discrimination and racism due to her black color. This can make a person demoralized and lead to low self-esteem. I would love to know if Martha could cope and how she did it.
