Catherine Anna Pepe wrote the book Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures. It's a children's book that tells the story of Donny, a little boy, diagnosed with Down syndrome, and how he managed to live happily with the condition. Donny, like every other human, couldn't walk, feed himself, or talk, considering that he had a disability. The doctor advises her parents to let him stay in a special home for the remaining days he'll spend on earth. This would reduce the burden that might be on them in taking care of him. This didn't go down well with Mary, who preferred that Donny should live with them. Donny learned to do many things from his parents and sister, Mary. The drugs he was given made him more stable and happy. Other events, such as Donny's disappearing in the zoo, the mockery that he faced from his schoolmates in California, his grandparents' location, etc., unfolded. You will love how these events end after reading this book.

This book convinced me that children with any form of disability should be well taken care of. Imagine existing in this world without having to pursue your dreams; living your life waiting for someone else to take care of you. What if the person who was supposed to look after you mocks or abandons you? How would you feel? You'll feel sad, left behind, and forsaken, right? On the other hand, if this person shows you love, care, and attention, what would your countenance be? It'll be exciting, right? Well, this was exactly how Donny felt when he was surrounded by love from his precious sister, Mary Grace Miller, and his amazing parents. His sister Mary always played with him at home and outside, while his parents always took him out to engage in fun activities. I've learned to always put a smile on the faces of downcast people.

This book somehow emphasized the importance of social media to the present world, especially that its importance cannot be relegated to the search for missing persons; when Donny was declared missing at the Sedgwock Country Zoo in Wichita, Kansas, a boy volunteered to post Donny's picture on Facebook to raise awareness that could lead to his finding. Was he finally seen? You'll know after you read this story.

I'll give this book a four out of four stars rating. I didn't find anything that I disliked. I discovered that it was exceptionally well-edited because I didn't see any errors. It also had very understandable and intriguing content that left me amazed and endeared to the story.

Children love stories that they can easily relate to. Parents, guardians, siblings, and grandparents living with children with Down syndrome will learn tips that will enable them to take care of the kids. So, I strongly recommend this interesting and power-packed book to them.
