Review of Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a fast-paced children's book. It is written by R.F. Kristi. The book begins with a brief introduction to a unique detective agency, Inca & Company. It is made up of animals who are friends with Inca. Inca can be considered as the clever cat who came up with this company to help solve mysteries. Inca and some members of the detective company follow their human mum, who is on her way to Korea. She has been selected to be one of the judges in a cooking competition. They notice a theft on their arrival. Their human mom has lost her precious cheese. Seeing how important it was, they set to recover it. This is not the only mystery they will attempt to solve. They also work together to find a missing Siberian tiger, Bomi, who they learned was missing. Did their detective work yield any fruit?
As a children's book, Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula came packed with a lot of suspense. Aside from this, there are other details I love about the book too. It is worthy of note that this book was exceptionally well-edited. I took my time to go through this book because a children's book should be properly edited to help children build their vocabulary. I also like the way the story progressed. I think the author arranged the sequence of events properly. For instance, from the way the news of their traveling was broken to Inca and others down to their flight, other events seemed to come one after another in a fascinating way.
Also, the author allowed each character enough time to feature in the book. I also like the way the author described some characters. For instance, Enzo, who they met on the flight, was described well, and when the cheese was missing, it wasn't difficult to trace who might have stolen it. I also like the way the author introduced new characters and scenes.
On the negative aspect, I would say that I did not come across any. As a matter of fact, I would be getting this book for my children. I would be looking forward to reading other books in the series too. I rate this book four out of four stars. This is especially because of the author's use of suspense in the book. I found no reason to give the book a lower rating.
This book comes highly recommended because it embodies all a children's book should be. I would recommend it to children who are between four to twelve years old. Adults like me who enjoy fast-paced children's books can consider reading this too.
