Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is a mysterious, fun, and enjoyable book. It centers on Inca, a cat detective, and her animal detectives. Her team consists of Fromage, Cara, Monk, Charlotte, Terrance, and Polo. Missy is made a judge in a cooking competition held in South Korea. Fromage assists Missy as they make a new cheese; Missy intends to showcase it at the competition.

On getting to South Korea, the cheese gets missing, and they're all in a state of panic. They suspect Enzo, Missy's rival and a fellow judge invited to the competition. They meet their tour guide, Ye-Jun, who invites them to stay at his home. Ye-Jun misses his sister, who hasn't been home in a long time. Solo vows to help him find her; Inca overhears their conversation and comes up with a plan. Does Ye-Jun find his sister? Is Missy's cheese found? Grab a copy to find out.

This book is an interesting children's book. The writing is clear, which makes it easy for young readers to understand. The dialogues are short and precise, and the storytelling flows nicely. The illustrations are colorful; this will surely capture the attention of readers. They aid in the storytelling and guide the reader throughout the book. Fromage's character was funny; you'd expect that from a child. I was full of laughter when he bragged about making the cheese; one would think he made it alone. I admire how close the animals are, as they'd move rocks for one another. They immediately offered to help Ye-Jun find Ji; this showcased their kindness and thoughtfulness. This book is very educative and fun-filled; children will learn from it. The situation in Korea is quite sad; the division is unnecessary. I wish the two countries unite peacefully. I was happy to learn about the demilitarized zone, the border separating North Korea and South Korea.

Why was Ji living in the North? Why couldn't she come back to her brother? These questions were not answered and left loopholes in the plot. I found no errors in the book, which indicates it was exceptionally well-edited. I have my dislikes, but they're not enough reasons to remove a star. I happily give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I was engrossed while reading as the book was entertaining.

I recommend this book to those that love history. Lovers of animals should also read this book.
