Review of Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures
Donny and Mary Grace Miller, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Miller, can be referred to as perfect children. Although Donny was a kid with Down syndrome, he was also known as the "happy kid." Donny could never see any situation as bad; he always saw things from a positive point of view. He was known for always smiling. His sister, Mary Grace, was the perfect and smart older sister. Their parents couldn't ask for more.
Although more came on its own when Mr. and Mrs. Miller had to go to Africa for a missionary journey. The kids will have to go live with their grandparents in California. Donny the Happy Kid doesn't mind, but Mary Grace doesn't want to leave Wichita; she doesn't want to change schools, and she doesn't want to leave her friends and neighbors. But she doesn't have a choice. As expected, California brings new things, adventure, and threats. Read Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine A. Pepe to find out how these kids coped.
I like how engaging this book is. There was never a boring moment. It's a very awesome kid's book. There were lots of lessons to learn. It's a very morally upright book. The book displayed lots of fears little children usually face, especially in a new environment, and how parents and teachers can help conquer them. I like how they showed that Down syndrome isn't a bad thing and it doesn't mean the child won't turn out well. The book was very fun to read.
I noticed no errors while reading this book. It was perfectly edited. The book was pet-friendly. I like how the dog Krug helped Mary Grace in the book. Another thing I like is how realistic the book is. Apart from how perfectly it related to kids' lives, it didn't paint Donny as a "too good to be true" kid. He showed a bit of mischievousness by carrying all his marbles with him to California.
I like everything about this book. It was fun to read, easy to understand, and had lots of moral lessons to offer. Parents should endeavor to get this book for their kids.
This book gets a four out of four star rating from me. The author did a really good job. I'm sure she would have studied kids a lot before she wrote it. It's a beautifully written children's book. I think it's perfect as it has lots of adventure; children would not find it a mere moral book but an adventurous and funny book.
I recommend this book to children. Parents should endeavor to get this book and more by the same author for their kids. Teachers should read this book too. There is a very important message for teachers in it too.
