Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is the eighth entry in the Inca Cat Detective series. The book talks about the detective cat, Inca, and the detective agency she heads, Inca and Company. Among that company are Inca's siblings, Fromage and Cara, and their beloved hamster, Charlotte; they all stay with their humanoid mom, Missy, in London. In this book, they go with their mom on a business trip to South Korea. They'd meet Ye-Jun, who was assigned to Missy to be a translator and a guide during her time in South Korea. Ye-Jun happens to also have a dog, Baram.

The story was told over 8 days, spanning from April 10th until April 17th. This story was told from Inca's point of view, or from her line of thought. The purpose of the trip to South Korea was that Missy was selected to be one of the judges of a French patisserie competition in South Korea. Still on this trip, Inca and Company, together with Missy and Solo, got to find out about the one dream Ye-Jun had and tried to make a way to grant him that wish, even though it was going to be dangerous.

This book brings a mixture of adventure, action, and a great sense of humor into play, things that would appease young readers. There was never a dull moment, as each page made you want to know, "What happens next?" I like how the author used this opportunity to narrate a lot of cultural and historical understanding of Korea, the relationship between the North and the South of Korea, and how the two countries get along. A fun and interesting fact was about the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which serves as a buffer zone between the two regions. Now, besides the fun and adventurous parts of the book, those cultural and historical findings would help younger readers gain more knowledge about the world and in terms of education.

The only thing I wasn't in total agreement with in the book was the behavior of Frommage. He always seemed to be the burst one, always claiming to be what he was not or to take credit for things he obviously didn't do. I think that it is ambigious, and younger readers could interpret it in a wrong way and tend to see that behavior as good. Besides that, I really liked the book.

I rate this book five out of five stars. It's a really nice book, and I feel younger readers would really enjoy it like I did, as it has a very nice blend of the appropriate amount of humor, adventure, and educational knowledge.

Beyond your review, I found something very exceptional which is how you analyzed the book. This is one thing I love in a review because it is what gives the impression of reading or not reading the book.

The book was definitely a blend of humor, a substantial amount of adventure and educative piece children would adore. The pictures incorporated into the book was soothing and was placed at the right position to further make the meanings of the text easy to assimilate by readers.

I love the Inca series!! Why? Will I start from the beautiful illustrations on the book or about the intriguing storylines that will make you want to read on. I enjoy R. F Kristi's books. Amazing review.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. The exploit of Inca and friends in the DMZ and the way they guarded their mom from Enzo was something I enjoyed. Beautiful book.

Inca was such an amazing character in this book. I am certainly sure Enzo will not have the guts to try hurting that will Inca's mom. Thanks for the great review
